What types of banners fall under display advertising?
Display advertising includes all visual online ads you come across on websites, apps, and platforms. Within this category, HTML5 banners and IAB banners are the most commonly used.
HTML5 banners are interactive, animated ads built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. They’re lightweight, work across virtually all devices, and support animations and dynamic content.
IAB banners are HTML5 banners that follow the standard formats and guidelines defined by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), such as 300x250, 728x90, or 160x600. These standardized formats are widely accepted across advertising platforms.
In short: all IAB banners are HTML5 banners, but not every HTML5 banner complies with IAB standards.
What does Rich Media mean?
Rich Media is a type of online advertising that includes interactive elements like animations, video, scroll effects, or even gamification. These eye-catching formats offer more engagement and impact than standard banners.
Rich Media formats are often exclusive to specific publishers, such as Weborama. Common formats we develop include Page Takeovers, Interscrollers, Interstitials, Mobile Portraits, and Superheaders.
What’s the difference between display advertising and Rich Media?
Rich Media is technically a subset of display advertising. All online ads with visual elements, like those shown on websites, fall under display advertising.
What makes Rich Media different is its use of unique formats and interactive features. These formats are specially designed and often only supported by specific publishers.
Examples include Page Takeovers, Interscrollers, Interstitials, Mobile Portraits, and Superheaders. We primarily develop Rich Media creatives that can be deployed via Weborama.
